Andrew grew up skiing on The Remarkables in Queenstown, New Zealand. He raced with the Queenstown Alpine Ski Team (QAST) from age 8. At various times he has been a member of NZ's National Alpine, Freestyle and Freeride teams. He competed for NZ at the World Junior Championships 2007-2009.

After retiring from ski racing Andrew followed in his parent' footsteps and became a coach and instructor. He has worked for QAST, Cardrona Alpine Ski Team, Aspen Skiing Company, NZ Ski Instructor's Alliance, the Austrian WC Skier-X Team and Alice Robinson.
